Hemlock Farms Public Safety Vehicles

The Hemlock Farms Department of Public Safety utilizes a fleet of Police and Special Service Package vehicles, something rarely found in other private communities. These vehicles come with heavy duty transmissions, alternators, batteries, suspensions, and other features which allow them to endure the rigors of patrol work.

The Hemlock Farms Community Association provides Public Safety with a new patrol car every year and a new Sport Utility Vehicle every four years.  The department generally keeps patrol cars in "front-line" service for 2 years followed by a year of "back-up" patrol duty and a year of "administrative" use.  The Sport Utility Vehicle is used for patrol in snowy or icy conditions and in situations where large items such as traffic cones or barricades need to be transported.  In 2000, the Department began purchasing 6 cylinder Chevrolet Impala Police Package vehicles to replace the 8 cylinder Ford Police Interceptor vehicles it had been utilizing.  The Impalas have worked out well and are more fuel efficient than the Fords.  Presently, the Department has three Chevy Impalas and two Ford Explorers.
