your enjoyment! Workshops - Classes Workshop Fees vary depending on
the length of the workshop. Materials
fees are NOT included in the price. Please
check each one. *Minimum signups
for each workshop – 6 persons
(unless otherwise noted) for more information on Cultural Arts activities,

classes will be rescheduled by the instructor. Fees for classes, workshops and special
events (including Bus trips) ARE NON REFUNDABLE. However, in the event a
class is cancelled by HFCA, enrolled students would be entitled to receive a
refund. Garden Wreath – Marion Poplawski Spring into summer with this front door wreath. Little garden tools, flower pots, birds, and seasonal silk flowers will adorn your wreath for the coming summer months! Friday – May 23 Time: 6:30 – 9:00 p.m. Fee: $25.00 per person, includes materials but bring a glue gun if you have one. Place: Large Art Room/Steer Barn. Sign up by May 16 at the HFCA office. Beginner Clay for Adults – Amy Strapec In this four week session, 5 students will be
bringing home an extensive tile project that is ready to hang in their own
homes. We also will make a functional piece of stoneware. Tuesdays – May 27, June, 3, 10, 17. Time: 6:30 –
8:30 p.m. $85.00 per person. Drum Workshop for Beginners – Jason Strapec This class is geared for all beginner students. Will study proper technique and form, rhythm, time signature, beginner drum set beats. Equipment supplied for class time. Dates: Saturdays – June 7, 14, 21, 28 Time: 9:00 – 9:45 a.m. Place: Large Art Room/Steer Barn. Fee: $40.00 per person. Artist’s Raw Materials Workshop – Thomas Bosket Thomas Bosket received his MFA from Saturday – June 14. Time: 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Place: Large Art Room/Steer Barn. Fee: $30.00 per person Sign up by May 31. Chocolate Making Class! – Joan Gilbert Learn how to fill chocolate candies. Create your own confections using peanut butter, caramels, nut clusters and cherries as fillers. Joan has been in the business of making candy for over 30 years and is excited to bring her expertise to you. Ages 12 and over Saturday – June 14 Time: 1:00 – 3:00p.m. Place: Orchard House. Fee: $10.00 per person materials included. Sign up by June 6 Fresh Flower Designs – Marion Poplawski Learn how to turn those grocery store flowers into a high end vase arrangement. We’ll use some of the flowers to learn how to make a corsage for those special occasions. Friday – June 27. Time: 6:30 -9:00 p.m. Fee: $25.00 per person includes materials. Sign up by June 20. Place: Large Art Room/Steer Barn Pottery Class for Ages 11 and Over – Katie Tolan Combination of hand built projects and throwing on the wheel. “The artist’s world is limitless. It can be found anywhere, far from where they live or a few feet away.” Saturdays – July 5, 12, 19, 26 Time: 1:00 – 2:30. Location: Art Chalet. Fee: $65.00 per child
materials included. Sign up by June 28. Katie received her B.A. in Art Ed from Children’s Summer Pottery Workshop – Katie Tolan Combination of hand built projects geared for the younger child. Saturdays – July 5, 12, 19, 26. Time: 10:00 – 11:30 a.m. Ages 6 – 10. Fee: $65.00 per child materials included. Location: Art Chalet. Sign up by June 28 Meet the Great Masters! Ages 4 – 6 – Kelly Stagan Children will explore the work of several famous artists. They will create artworks imitating their style. Lots of fun and learning too! Kelly enjoys sharing her art background with young people. Mondays – July 7, 14, 21, 28. Time: 10:00 – 10:40 a.m. Fee: $35.00 includes all materials. Place: Large Art Room/Steer Barn Creating Art! Ages 4 – 6 – Kelly Stagan Children will explore the elements of art and create several masterpieces to take home. Mondays – July 7, 14, 21, 28. Time: 3:00 – 3:40 p.m. Fee: $35.00 includes all materials. Place: Large Art Room/Steer Barn Advanced Wheel Throwing Techniques – Amy Strapec Geared for the more experienced potter who can center 5 lbs. on the wheel. We will be practicing form, shaping techniques, decorating, and kiln firing methods. Thursdays – July 10, 17, 24, 31, Aug. 14, 21. Time: 9:00 a.m. – 12:00 noon. $130.00 includes materials. Introduction to Adult Ballet – Donna Jacobs If you thought you couldn’t do ballet, come and learn to float across the floor with beginner steps. Arabesque, Bar and Center Floor exercises. Dance combos and more. Thursdays- July 10, 17, 24, 31. Time: 11:00 a.m. to 12:00p.m. Place: Steer Barn Auditorium. Fee: $25.00 per person. Sign up by Thursday, July 3. Beginner Wheel Pottery Class-Amy Strapec Have you always wanted to try? In this class you will get down and dirty in the mud! Try something new! We will work on preparing the clay, centering clay on the potter’s wheel and bringing home a few functional pieces that are dishwasher, oven and microwave safe. Mondays- July 14, 28, 4, 11. 6:30 –9:30 p.m. Fee: $100.00 per person includes materials. Life Drawing Classes – non instructional July 2, 9, 16, 23, 30 August 6, 13, 20, 27. Time: 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. Fee: $10.00 per person. Professional models wanted. Special Events NYC Bus Trips – This is a “day on your own”. See a play, visit a museum or just stroll around the Big Apple. Sign-up deadline is two weeks before the trip date. Fee: $28.00 pp. Next bus trip is Wednesday, April 16, 2008. Sign up by April 2. riveting music lead by Phil Barr on piano. Paul Mitchell on bass and Jason
Strapec on drums make up the trio. $5.00 prepaid at the HFCA office. $8.00 at the door. BYOB, feel free to bring some appetizers. We
will provide light refreshments. Doors open at 7:00p.m. Hemlock Farms
Artists – “A Salute to Creativity” Chant Gallery Opening reception, Friday, July 11. Time: 5:00 – 8:00 p.m. Music by Eddie Biamonte Hemlock Artists will be showing their work from July 4 – August 29. Applications are available at the HFCA office. Comedy Night Lenny Rush! $20.00 per person. Light refreshments available.
Tickets will go on sale at the office on July 1. Saturday, July 26. 8:30 –
10:00 p.m. Fine Art Show and 10:00 – 4:00. Talented, quality artists from all over will be showcasing their artwork. Hemlock Farms Day – Saturday, August 2. Raindate – August 3. Flea Market and Craft Vendor applications are now being taken. $25.00 per 10 x 10 space. Labor Day Flea Market/Craft Vendors and Classic Car Show – Saturday, August 30. Hot dogs, drinks for sale. Doo- wop music to swing to. Applications are available at the HFCA office or by calling the Cultural Arts Dept. $15.00 per 12 x 12’ space. Antique’s
Appraisal with Dr. Lori! – Sunday, October 12. Details to be announced
at a later date. These are NOT all the
classes, trips, events & workshops that will be available during this semester. Our Classes and workshops are continually
being updated, so please watch for any additional activities throughout the
season. Channel 15 and the HFCA Office
will also have updates when available. We need to know what you would enjoy
doing, so we can offer the very best here at Hemlock Farms! Please contact the Cultural Arts Director at

comments. Your input is very valuable. Fees for classes, workshops and special
events (including Bus trips) ARE NON REFUNDABLE. However, in the event a class is cancelled by
HFCA, enrolled students would be entitled to receive a refund. All classes & workshops must be paid for in
full before they start. Students cannot pay for a portion of a
class or special event, or for a single session, or cannot pay for the
remainder of a class even if they start after the class has passed its first
session. We can not sign you up until you have paid. In
case a trip or class is cancelled, checks will be returned to you. All fees collected pay for
trips and/or the instructors for coming to Hemlock Farms and instructing our
residents in a professional and educational manner, and for advertising and
